Daniel Svensson would be able to hit the ground running if he signs for Leeds United in 2025, according to Lars Gram-Hanssen.

Speaking to Fotboll Direkt (29 November), Tipsbladet’s Danish football expert and pundit said that despite interest from Liverpool and Juventus being mooted, Svensson would be interested in a switch to Elland Road.

The FC Nordsjaelland defender has previously acknowledged Leeds’ own interest over a prospective January transfer [Tipsbladet, 23 November], but Gram-Hanssen said Svensson is more likely to wait until the summer instead.

“I think Daniel Svensson would be interested in a move to Leeds”, Gram-Hanssen said.

“They are top in the Championship and it could be a chance to go to a club where he would have a good chance of being a starter from the start.”

Leeds United transfer can be perfect fit for Daniel Svensson

While the chance to join Liverpool or Juventus – and play at the very top level of European football straight away – any minutes given to Svensson at either club would most likely be in moderation.

At Elland Road, meanwhile, he could become the automatic first-choice at left-back if Daniel Farkes’ side are able to achieve promotion this season, given the current options at the German’s disposal.

Junior Firpo is firmly established as United’s starting left-back, but with both the Dominican Republic international and back-up Sam Byram out of contract at the end of the season, stocks are looking low.

Isaac Schmidt was signed to fill any potential void in this position, but the Swiss full-back is yet to make much of an impact at Elland Road having been given limited minutes by Farke thus far.

Signing Svensson, therefore, would not only be a sign that the promoted Whites would keen to build a strong team, ready to take on both the Premier League and Europe’s biggest sides in the transfer market.
