Huge brawl breaks out in stands with punches thrown during West Ham vs Arsenal

A major fracas erupted at the London Stadium amid Arsenal's away victory against West Ham on Saturday. The Gunners had swiftly propelled themselves into a commanding 4-0 lead when the Irons responded with two goals in rapid succession, heating up the contest.

Bukayo Saka's spot kick concluded a frenetic first half, effortlessly illustrating the high stakes of the match. As the second half momentum waned with no further scoreline alterations, tensions spilled over amongst the Hammers' faithful after conceding four goals early on.

Captured footage from the home section revealed an intense scuffle breaking out: one man is seen throwing a punch towards another spectator's face, which prompts an immediate retaliation and escalates the confrontation. Amidst the chaos, stewards intervened to defuse the situation, as onlookers claimed that the instigator of the punch might have been "knocked out".

There's no certainty on what triggered the disturbance, however, West Ham officials, expressing their stance to The Sun, affirmed that they are taking measures to pinpoint those responsible: "The club is aware of the incident and will be working to identify the offender(s)."

West Ham united emphasised their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy on misbehaviour, stating: "In line with our zero-tolerance approach, anyone identified will have their details passed to the police and will be given an indefinite ban and therefore be unable to enter London Stadium and travel with the club. There is no place for this kind of behaviour at our Stadium."

Speaking about his side's performance after the game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: "It was a spectacular [first] thirty minutes. Straight away [I knew] how much the team wanted it, the purpose, the determination and quality that we deliver to score three great goals in different ways.

"Then score the fourth one as well in a really great way as well but then after that we had a period where the individual quality of them obviously played a big part, 4-2, and then its game on and you can sense that the energy has changed and then what’s next?

"I think it was great to score the fifth one as that calmed everything down and we could play a very different game that was much more suited to us."
