George Abbott scored his first senior goal for loan club Notts County on Saturday, but it wasn’t enough to help his side through in the FA Cup as they lost their second-round tie 4-3 at Peterborough United.
Having earlier set up Cedwyn Scott for the visitors’ first goal of the afternoon, midfielder George hit the target in eye-catching fashion in the sixth minute of added time.

With his side trailing 4-2 at that stage, he latched onto a wayward clearance from Peterborough goalkeeper Nicholas Bilokapic and sent an audacious effort from out on the right flank swirling over the retreating stopper and into the net.
Unfortunately for George, who captained our Development Squad to the Premier League 2 title last season, there was to be no late equaliser and his side were ultimately eliminated from the competition.
