Chelsea defender Levi Colwill has claimed that he would be apprehensive of facing the Blues this season if he played for any other team in the Premier League. Enzo Maresca's side are fifth in the standings and could end the week as high as second if results go their way.
England international Colwill has been a mainstay in the Chelsea squad for the last two seasons, growing into a key defender for the club. The 21-year-old is central to how Maresca, who replaced Mauricio Pochettino in the summer, wants his side to play.
Enzo Maresca has overseen a sharp upturn in the Blues' fortunes as they have been tipped to be in the race for a top-three finish this season. Colwill told the Daily Mail that the coach instilled belief in the players and put systems in place to enable them to play at their best.
“I would be scared to play Chelsea. The way we break teams down and create so many chances is amazing. Maresca has come in and given us that confidence. We’re going into games and, it’s fair to say, we're battering most teams," the youngster said via Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues have been in fine form in front of goal this season, scoring 23 times in the league, a tally bettered by only four clubs. With 18 goals in the UEFA Europa Conference League, the Blues have one of the most potent attacking units in Europe this season.
Chelsea have lost only two games in the league this season - at home to Manchester City and away to Liverpool. They have shown that they can compete with the league's best sides and will look to back it up with silverware in the coming months.
Chelsea interested in a move for former Manchester City prodigy - Reports
Chelsea are looking to pursue a move for Ipswich Town star Liam Delap after his excellent start to life in the Premier League. David Ornstein has reported that the Blues are among several sides interested in the 21-year-old, who could cost around £40 million.
Son of former Stoke City great Rory Delap, Liam has scored six goals and provided an assist in 13 appearances in the Premier League this season. The young striker was once on the books of Manchester City, like Cole Palmer and Romeo Lavia, and played under Enzo Maresca at the club's academy.
Delap is considered one of the best young strikers in England, with pundits tipping him to be the next Harry Kane. The youngster may be keen to move to London and play under his former coach.
