Enzo Maresca not starting 'fantastic' Chelsea player against Aston Villa would be so unjust - opinion

Enzo Maresca has some big decisions to make going into Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa later.

Chelsea beat Heidenheim 2-0 in the Conference League on Thursday, with several players putting in some really good performances.

Enzo Maresca put out his B team again and the players who came in did not disappoint. Mykhailo Mudryk and Christopher Nkunku both grabbed goals, for example, while Jadon Sancho managed to register two assists.

Filip Jorgensen also performed exceptionally well between the sticks and came in for plenty of praise after the game. Jorgensen now deserves a shot in the Premier League, according to former Liverpool and England striker Peter Crouch.

Filip Jorgensen’s display vs Heidenheim

Jorgensen was phenomenal against Heidenheim. Robert Sanchez has been Maresca’s No.1 this season, leaving Jorgensen as the No.2, and the 22-year-old is yet to really let Chelsea down.

In his side’s 2-0 win in Germany during the week, Jorgensen made an impressive 11 saves — seven of those came from inside of his box.

Without him, Chelsea would probably not have won the game. After the match, Maresca described his performance as “fantastic”, as per Sky Sports.

Chelsea believe Jorgensen is a good fit for Maresca, and the former Villarreal man is starting to show that. All in all, Jorgensen deserves a chance against Villa later, especially after all of the mistakes Sanchez has made this season.

Sanchez, on the other hand, failed to make a real impact in the Premier League. After an injury, the Spaniard lost his spot in the team to Djordje Petrovic, who is currently on loan at Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.
