Predicted Manchester United lineup against Everton: Mainoo, Shaw to return; will Rashford…

Luke Shaw will make his first start of the 2024/25 season when Manchester United and Everton clash at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Manchester United will aim to continue the unbeaten start to life under Ruben Amorim when they welcome Everton to Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon. And the Portuguese tactician has seen his squad’s injury woes ease ahead of his side’s latest fixture.

Harry Maguire (calf) is closing in on coming back, although he remains unavailable. In addition, Jonny Evans faces a late fitness test to determine his availability. Leny Yoro (foot) and Victor Lindelof (calf) remain on the sidelines, but the duo should return soon.

Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, which happened after the UEFA Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt, Amorim spoke about whether any player would be fit enough to return this weekend against Everton. In addition, the new manager had some words of praise for Tyrell Malacia.

The Manchester United manager said, “Maybe, we have to see. We have one more training. But maybe if not in the starting XI, they will be on the bench. It was really huge for him [Malacia] and the confidence of everybody. I think he did very well. He was more than a year without playing and the way he behaved he was so brave with the ball. I’m really happy with him.”

While Malacia got up to speed in the UEFA Europa League clash with Bodo/Glimt, he will drop to the bench this weekend. Instead, Luke Shaw will start as the left wing-back, with Diogo Dalot returning on the right flank.

Andre Onana will retain his spot between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 3-4-3 formation in front of him against Everton on Sunday afternoon. The central defensive unit should feature Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt, and Lisandro Martinez.

As for the midfield unit, Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo should return, with the latter making his first start since recovering from a hamstring injury. Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho will be the supporting cast for the centre-forward. Finally, Rasmus Hojlund should continue as the central striker, with Marcus Rashford missing out.

Predicted Manchester United XI: Onana; Mazraoui, de Ligt, Martinez; Dalot, Casemiro, Mainoo, Shaw; Bruno Fernandes, Hojlund, Garnacho
