Ipswich Town forward Liam Delap is on Manchester United’s shortlist of striker targets, according to The Athletic.
The website claims that Red Devils’ scouts have “noted” the 21-year-old’s impact since moving from Manchester City for £20m in the summer.
Delap is also being watched by Chelsea, while it is believed that his former club City have a buyback clause on the player.

That effectively gives the Premier League champions control over whether to re-sign him but there is no indication at the moment that he will be brought back to the Etihad.
Delap is not the only striker under consideration
In addition to the England Under 21 international, The Athletic report that RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko remains on the club’s radar. The Slovenian international has been watched for several years and United could make a move for him at the end of the season if he is available.
However, it should also be noted that both Arsenal and Chelsea are keen on securing his services too. Both tried and failed to buy him when his release clause was still active back in June.
Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres is another name on the shortlist, mainly due to his past association with Ruben Amorim, but it remains to be seen how serious the interest is.
United are weighing up whether to sell another forward
One of the reasons why the club are exploring the market for a new No.9 is because of Joshua Zirkzee’s situation. Despite only signing him from Bologna for £36.5m just a few months ago, a sale at the end of the season has not been ruled out.
The Dutchman did not even get off the substitutes bench in United’s 3-2 win over Bodo/Glimt on Thursday evening. It will be interesting to see whether Amorim gives him any minutes against Everton today.
