'We're battering most teams': Levi Colwill explains what Enzo Maresca is doing so well at Chelsea

Levi Colwill has been speaking ahead of Chelsea’s game against Aston Villa later today.

A win would take Chelsea back into the top four, with the Blues falling out of it following Arsenal’s victory over West Ham United and Brighton & Hove Albion’s draw with Southampton.

Overall, Enzo Maresca has done a really good job so far this season. In the build-up to the Chelsea versus Villa clash, Unai Emery has praised Maresca.

The Villans boss is not the only person who has done that, though, with Colwill having also lauded his manager.

Levi Colwill on Enzo Maresca

As a team, Chelsea have performed quite well this season. The forward line has particularly impressed and received a lot of credit for the Blues’ success.

Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson, for example, are both on seven goals apiece in the Premier League.

Colwill, though, is putting Chelsea’s success down to his boss and how he sets the team up. When asked about Chelsea’s chaos disappearing, the central defender told football.london: “It’s due to the manager.

“He’s come in and given us that confidence. He’s set us up amazingly and we’re going into games and, it’s fair to say, we’re battering most teams.

“We’re playing really good football. People are not looking at us with a question mark anymore. They know we’re gonna play good football and try to win games. That is what we have been doing so far this season.”

Colwill has been a key player for Maresca, starting every Premier League game. Maresca should build around Colwill, according to former Chelsea defender Jason Cundy.

Chelsea can get even better under Enzo Maresca

Chelsea supporters will be pleased with the quick progress they have made under Maresca in such a short space of time.

Yet looking at some of their numbers, there could be even more to come. Again, the Blues are doing well this season but are not even in excelling in every area.

For example, Chelsea are only averaging 14.2 shots per game, which is the ninth highest in the Premier League, according to WhoScored. Imagine what could happen if Maresca can get his side to start firing at goal a bit more.

Their discipline has also been very poor, with their 45 yellow cards being the most in the English top flight. If Chelsea can work on that and stop giving a away so many silly penalties and free-kicks, then they are going to win even more games.
