Atletico Madrid signed Conor Gallagher from Chelsea in the last transfer window.
There has since been speculation about Atletico Madrid potentially trying to sign Enzo Fernandez from Chelsea this time.
The midfielder recently lost his spot in the team but did start and impress in their last Premier League game against Leicester City.
Fernandez was actually named in SofaScore’s Team of the Week for his display at the King Power Stadium last weekend.

Could Chelsea sell Enzo Fernandez next month?
Even if Fernandez has not lived up to his £100m price tag at Chelsea, it is not hard to see why Atletico would want him.
The 23-year-old is still a very good passer, a World Cup winner and, of course, Diego Simeone’s compatriot.
Unfortunately for Atletico, though, it does not look like Fernandez will be going anywhere next month.
According to journalist Eduardo Burgos, Chelsea will not sell the Argentine during the winter transfer window.

He did not play in Chelsea’s Conference League tie midweek. However, the Heidenheim game was still one Fernandez took an interest in as he reacted to the result on social media.
Enzo Fernandez and Conor Gallagher compared
Albeit unlikely at this stage, a move to Atletico would see Fernandez reunited with Gallagher.
This season, Fernandez has not been at the top of his game, which is one reason why the Argentina international has lost his place in the team, yet he has still outperformed Gallagher in several important metrics.
For example, Fernandez is making more tackles per game than his former teammate, which may shock some, given how hard Gallagher works on the pitch.
Unsurprisingly, Fernandez is also completing more passes on average than the England international.

Ultimately, Fernandez would be a huge upgrade on Gallagher or a great midfield partner for him at Atletico. It would be a major shock, though, if Chelsea decided to sell him and in January.
