Liverpool given big boost in pursuit of “clinical” Premier League attacker

Liverpool have been boosted in their attempts to sign Bournemouth attacker Antoine Semenyo, according to a promising new transfer claim.

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a good start to the Premier League season, scoring four goals in the competition, including finding the net against Manchester City.

Liverpool have been mentioned as one of the clubs eyeing a move for Semenyo in 2025, with the winger potentially keen on a new challenge at a bigger club.

With Mohamed Salah’s Reds future in doubt following recent comments in which he claimed the club still haven’t offered him a new deal, possible replacements need to be considered.

According to a new report from Football Insider, Liverpool are “expected to entertain offers” for Semenyo, no doubt seeing the merits of cashing in on him.

A summer exit is mooted, rather than him leaving the Cherries in the January transfer window, and it will be interesting to see if the Reds make a move at the end of the season.

Our thoughts on Liverpool signing Semenyo…

Semenyo is an excellent attacking player who has caused Liverpool problems in the past, scoring at Anfield against them last season, so it is easy to see why they are keen on signing him.

Ghanaian is one of Bournemouth’s standout players, shining in a right-sided role, and teammate Lewis Cook has heaped praise on him recently, saying:

“As a team, we knew the quality he has and we saw that last year. He’s got to just keep working hard – being aggressive and being clinical,” said Cook.

“He’s got a lot better at running back and helping out the team too. He’s a powerful lad and has all the ability in the world. Hopefully he can continue to show that.”

It goes without saying that Liverpool keeping hold of Salah is still the far more preferable outcome, however, with the 32-year-old enjoying a superb season and looking as good as ever.

Semenyo is eight years his junior, though, and should be considered a strong choice to succeed the Egyptian on the right-hand side of the Reds’ attack, alongside the likes of Omar Marmoush and Mohammed Kudus, among others.
