It looked like Chelsea forward Christopher Nkunku was going to have a very strong season under Enzo Maresca.
Christopher Nkunku was arguably Chelsea‘s best player in pre-season, with the 27-year-old scoring three times during their tour of the US.
However, Enzo Maresca has been unable to find him a place in his team, preferring Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson for the No.10 and No.9 positions.
As a result, Nkunku has made just one start in the Premier League this term and has been linked with a move away from west London. It has been reported, though, that Chelsea do not want to offload Nkunku in January.

Christopher Nkunku not giving up
Palmer is Chelsea’s best player, so the Englishman is going to play. It means that Nkunku’s only real avenue into the team is through ousting Jackson out of the side.
However, it is clear that the 23-year-old is Maresca’s first-choice striker right now, so doing the above will not be easy.
Nevertheless, according to TBR, Nkunku has not given up on his Chelsea career and will continue to fight for a place in the team.
It is the kind of attitude Chelsea supporters will want to see from their players. Despite not getting too many opportunities in the Premier League this season, Nkunku is still the club’s top scorer in all competitions.

Joe Cole lauded Nkunku for his performance against Heidenheim midweek. The Frenchman scored in Chelsea’s 2-0 win, which was his fifth goal in the league phase of the Conference League.
Christopher Nkunku unlikely to return to Germany
Things can quickly change in football. If Nkunku does not make another Premier League start between now and the beginning of January, perhaps the France international will leave Chelsea.
Nkunku joining Borussia Dortmund seems unlikely, though, with journalist Christian Falk ruling out a move.
Whatever the case, for now, it looks like Nkunku has not given up on becoming a Chelsea success just yet.
