Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has named his starting line-up for today’s Premier League clash against Everton at Old Trafford.
The Red Devils returned to winning ways in midweek with a 3-2 victory over Bodo/Glimt in the Europa League. United came from 2-1 down to register a hard-fought win.
Amorim promised to rotate his squad prior to the Toffees game and he has made six changes with Rasmus Hojlund one of those dropping to the substitutes’ bench.
Andre Onana starts in goal for the Red Devils. There are no changes in the back three with Noussair Mazraoui, Matthijs de Ligt and Lisandro Martinez retaining their spots.
However, both Antony and Tyrell Malacia drop to the bench after underwhelming performances from the wing-back roles. They have been replaced with Amad Diallo and Diogo Dalot.
In central midfield, Kobbie Mainoo makes his first start since returning from a calf injury. He has a surprise partner in the form of Casemiro. Manuel Ugarte has dropped to the bench.
Elsewhere, Alejandro Garnacho, Mason Mount and Hojlund are also on the substitutes’ bench. Hojlund scored a brace in midweek, but Joshua Zirkzee has been picked to lead the attack.
Bruno Fernandes starts in an attacking midfield role today alongside Marcus Rashford.
United find themselves seven points behind the Champions League places and they need a victory against the Toffees ahead of a tough trip to the Emirates Stadium to face Arsenal.
Amorim has decided to heavily rotate his starting XI once more. He has made a huge decision to pick an out-of-form Zirkzee up front and the Dutchman has a huge point to prove today.
Confirmed Man Utd line-up (3-4-2-1) vs Everton: Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Martinez; Diallo, Casemiro, Mainoo, Dalot; Rashford, Fernandes; Zirkzee.
