Everton manager Sean Dyche has dropped Dominic Calvert-Lewin

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been dropped for Everton's match at Manchester United today (1.30pm). Sean Dyche has turned to Beto in his search for goals.

Everton went through November without scoring - despite coming up against three of the Premier League’s most porous defences. That struggle has led Sean Dyche to look increasingly towards the looming return of injured forwards Armando Broja and Youssef Chermiti, who are both now building fitness in the Under-21s.

But while he waits for their rehabilitation to conclude, the Blues boss has turned to Beto as a challenging December begins at Old Trafford.

Beto has scored just once this season but has shown a greater threat in front of goal than Calvert-Lewin in the opportunities he has received recently.

He scored the stoppage time equaliser against Fulham in October - a goal that led to him leaving the pitch in tears of relief. He then had a magnificent goal ruled out for a tight offside at Southampton, where he also hit the bar.

Everton team: Pickford; Young, Tarkowski, Branthwaite, Mykolenko; Lindstrom, Doucoure, Gueye, Ndiaye; McNeil; Beto. Subs: Virginia, Begovic, Patterson, Mangala, Calvert-Lewin, Harrison, O'Brien, Coleman, Armstrong.
