Barcelona star completes group training session for first time this season

Barcelona have on Sunday been handed a boost on the personnel front.

This comes amid confirmation that Ronald Araújo has taken a significant step forward in his recovery from injury.

Defender Araújo was for his part condemned to a long-term spell on the sidelines back in early-July.

This came owing to a serious hamstring injury, suffered whilst lining out for his native Uruguay during the latest edition of the Copa América.

The 25-year-old has remained on the sidelines ever since, sitting out Barcelona’s fine opening to the campaign under new boss Hansi Flick.

With Andreas Christensen sidelined long-term, too, and Eric García struggling for fitness, it is safe to say that Araújo’s return would therefore come as a welcome one for Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.

And, as alluded to above, if the latest word stemming from Catalunya’s capital is anything to go by, then as much today moved a considerable step closer.

As per a report from **[Diario Sport](https://www.sport.es/es/noticias/barca/paso-adelante-definitivo-araujo-112229094)**:

‘Good news for Hansi Flick. Ronald Araújo has on Sunday completed his first session with the group since he joined training.’

The hope, in turn, is that the stopper will be cleared for competitive action at some point over the coming fortnight.
