Fans express doubt over Joshua Zirkzee's inclusion in Manchester United's starting XI against Everton. The Premier League clash is slated for Sunday, December 1, at Old Trafford.
This marks the first time Zirkzee will be starting for Manchester United under new head coach Ruben Amorim, who was appointed last month. The 23-year-old centre-forward arrived at Old Trafford from Bologna in July.
Zirkzee scored in his debut match for the Red Devils, which was also the season's opening fixture, setting expectations of a good addition to the squad. However, the Dutchman has not found the back of the net since then.
Fans took to social media and flooded with posts questioning Joshua Zirkzee's inclusion in Manchester United's starting line-up in their 13th Premier League clash of the season. Here are some of the reactions from X:
One fan wrote:
"My problem with this XI is Zirkzee🤦🏽💔"
Another added:
"But why Zirkzee 😭, that lad is a washed."
"Why would anyone play Zirkzee," chimed in another fan.
One account posted:
"Everyone getting a chance is good but Zirkzee upfront will be wasting 45mins of valuable time😭😭"
Another tweeted:
"Ffs man why not Amad at 10 then Rashford up top. Not tryna see Zirkzee tbh"
"Everything is fine apart from Zirkzee he should barely make the bench with how awful he is. dunno how we gonna score today with him up top," posted another.
One user wrote:
"Zirkzee? I hope he doesn’t disappoint"
While another wrote:
"Zirkzee upfront... How are we going to score ?"
Along with registering a goal, Joshua Zirkzee has also provided two assists in 18 appearances across competitions for the Red Devils so far this season.
Chris Sutton gives out prediction for Manchester United's Premier League clash against Everton
BBC Sport columnist Chris Sutton has predicted Manchester United's Premier League clash against Everton to end in a 1-1 draw. Speaking about Ruben Amorim's first match as the Red Devils' manager, which ended in a 1-1 draw, the English pundit mentioned how the Portuguese coach needs time to turn things around for the better at Old Trafford.
Sutton said (via BBC Sport):
"There has been so much hype, or even over-hype, about Manchester United, and I feel a bit sorry for their new manager Ruben Amorim because he needs time, and two or three transfer windows, to put things right."
"There was a lot of excitement over the way they started his first game in charge, against Ipswich, but blimey you have got a problem if the Tractor Boys are out-playing you, which is what happened in the end."
While giving out his predictions for Manchester United's clash against Everton, Chris Sutton said:
"I think the reality is hitting home about Amorim using his favoured 3-4-3 formation with their current squad - especially with Christian Eriksen and Casemiro in midfield. As for Everton, well a fair few of their fans still seem to be on Sean Dyche's back, and they could not find a way past Brentford's 10 men last week."
Manchester United are currently 13th on the Premier League table with 16 points, while Everton stand 15th with 11 points. The Red Devils have a good record against the Toffees, winning 95 out of the 271 matches played between them.
