Leaders Liverpool face reigning champions Manchester City in a huge match in the Premier League title race on Sunday afternoon.
Arne Slot’s side have won ten and drawn one of their 12 games in the league so far, and also sit top of the Champions League table after a flawless start to the group phase.
The Reds currently hold an eight-point lead over the fourth-placed Citizens, with Chelsea and Arsenal occupying the two spaces in between them.
Sunday’s match could go a long way towards deciding who wins the title in May, with Liverpool potentially opening up an 11-point advantage over the reigning champions with a victory.
In the meantime, it appears that Liverpool are eyeing a move for a Bundesliga full-back.
As reported by BILD via GiveMeSport, the Merseyside outfit are considering a move for Bayer Leverkusen’s Jeremie Frimpong amid uncertainty surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold’s future.
Frimpong has emerged as a target for Liverpool as they hunt for a new right-back
England international Alexander-Arnold is currently in the final year of his contract with the Reds, and he has been frequently linked with a move to Spanish giants Real Madrid.
With that in mind, the report claims that Liverpool are monitoring Frimpong as a potential replacement for the right-back.
Frimpong, 23, is a product of Man City’s youth academy but departed the club in 2019 to join Celtic, having never made a senior appearance for the Citizens.
Since joining Leverkusen in 2021, the Dutchman has established himself as one of the best full-backs in Europe.
He has played a total of 161 games for the German side, and played a key role for Xabi Alonso’s team as they won the Bundesliga title last term.
Frimpong há scored 27 goals and provided 39 assists during his time in Germany, and the report suggests that he is therefore regarded as a potential heir to Alexander-Arnold, who is one of the most prolific attacking full-backs in the world in terms of both goals and assists.
Liverpool do also have academy graduate Conor Bradley – who impressed against Real Madrid on Wednesday – in their ranks.
