Liverpool could make a big stride in their Premier League title aspirations but Gary Neville has joked he 'hopes' the Reds stutter
Former Man United defender Gary Neville.
Gary Neville has posted a plea to Manchester City and Arsenal to dent Liverpool's Premier League title aspirations. The Reds take on the champions at Anfield, looking to move 11 points clear of Pep Guardiola's side and extend their cushion to nine points.
City travel to Anfield looking to end a run of six matches without a win, including five defeats, and reignite their hopes of a fifth straight top-flight crown in May. Going into Sunday's showdown, the east Manchester club sit in fifth behind Arsenal, Chelsea and Brighton & Hove Albion going into a busy December period.
Arsenal reinforced the qualities with a comprehensive 5-2 win over West Ham United away from home on Saturday night. A win for Liverpool on Sunday could see them take a huge step in achieving their second Premier League crown.

A triumph in May would see the Reds move on to become 20-time English champions, only currently done by Liverpool's rivals Manchester United. In a post on Instagram, Neville joked using a song title from Manchester band: "Not Nineteen Forever! I hope it is.
"Join us for Liverpool v City @skysports it should be a good one."
The former United defender has previously tipped Arsenal and City to be the top two but was forced to u-turn at the beginning of last month. He said: "I think it's been an unbelievable start for Arne Slot, he could never have imagined that it would have gone as well as it has.
"There is part of me that still wants to get to January, February. Part of me still wants to see that end of the first round of games. Part of me thinks in the games that I've particularly watched them... they were really good at Old Trafford (when Liverpool won 3-0 at Man United), I thought they were fantastic in that game, but when I watched them at Wolves, the Chelsea game, I wasn't wholly convinced.
"They got the job done, just like they did against Brighton on Saturday, so they're getting the job done in certain games. But I don't feel like I'm watching a champion team."
