Aston Villa took on Chelsea in the Premier League on Sunday, losing 3-0 at Stamford Bridge.
The Villans went into the game looking to close the gap at the top of the table, but goals from Nicolas Jackson and Enzo Fernandez in the first half followed by Cole Palmer’s strike in the second.
Unai Emery made two changes to his team versus Enzo Maresca’s side after the 0-0 draw with Juventus in the Champions League on 27 November, with Ezri Konsa and Jaden Philogene coming into the starting lineup.

Ezri Konsa – 4
The Eglishman’s return to the starting lineup wasn’t an encouraging one, failing to keep a lid on Chelsea’s attack, especially Nicolas Jackson.
Pau Torres – 2
The Spaniard made a howler in the first half as he gave away a sloppy indirect freekick to the home side inside the penalty area. He failed to relieve the pressure on the team and made things worse, with 20 per cent of his long balls finding a teammate. As Palmer scored, the centre-back failed to close him down quickly.
Lucas Digne – 5
The 31-year-old is usually a threat going forward, but along with a poor defensive display, the Frenchman struggled in the final third for the Lions as well. He had zero successful dribbles, 33 per cent of accurate crosses, won zero per cent of his tackles and lost three of his six ground duels.
Boubacar Kamara – 4
The France international played around 60 minutes of football and looked a bit off the pace as he was dispossessed once, made zero interceptions and won only 43 per cent of his ground duels.

The Belgian was one of the few bright sparks for Villa on the pitch, creating four chances, making 10 passes into the final third and also contributed defensively, making three recoveries.
John McGinn – 6
The captain was nowhere to be seen in the first half but managed to bring control to the team after the break as the Villans took the game to the hosts at Stamford Bridge.
Jaden Philogene – 4
The 22-year-old wasn’t much of a threat going forward, completing just 63 per cent of his passes, an xG of 0.02, xA of 0.04, attempted one shot, which was off target, and was dispossessed once.
Morgan Rogers – 2
The England international’s woes have continued, completing 71 per cent of his passes, creating zero chances playing in the number 10 role, having zero touches in the opposition box and being dispossessed once.
Ollie Watkins – 2
The forward was a lonesome figure up top as he had just 20 touches of the ball and completed eight of his nine passes in the 66 minutes he was on the pitch. He also missed quite a few opportunities, with an xGOT of 0.47.
