Sean Dyche decided to make the one change for [Everton's](https://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com) trip to [Manchester United](https://thebusbybabe.sbnation.com) with out-of-form striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin benched and Beto starting in his stead.
The hosts under new manager Ruben Amorim were looking to get back on track after a poor draw away at Ipswich in his first game in charge.
### **First Half**
Everton started the game reasonably as both sides traded early chances. Jarrad Branthwaite had to make a couple of early interventions before Dwight McNeil fashioned a chance for himself, but his attempt to move the ball to his left saw the opportunity wasted.
Amad Diallo had the beating of Vitaliy Mykolenko all day while in the other side Beto couldn't keep his shot under control. Then McNeil found Beto through on goal, but after the striker rounded Andre Onana he could only hit the side netting.
When Everton fail to find the net after getting chances, things usually get turned on then and that happened again today.
A Marcus Rashford shot from a corner was badly deflected off Branthwaite and flew in to make it 1-0 just after the half hour mark.
An awful pass out from Jordan Pickford ended up with Branthwaite losing the ball, and a marauding United went 2-0 up with Joshua Zirkzee pouncing on the ball.
For an Everton side that has barely scored all of November, that was pretty much all she wrote.
### **Second Half**
Twenty seconds into the second half and it was definitely all over as Everton turned the ball over again off the kickoff while the entire left side of the defence was still in the dressing room, with Rashford grabbing his brace.
Soon after the hour mark, Tarkowski lost the ball in a dangerous spot from an underhit pass, and the Red Devils made it four with Zirkzee getting his second too.
Too late Dyche made the changes, with Idrissa Gueye, Jesper Lindstrom and Beto coming off for Orel Mangala, Jack Harrison and DCL. A few minutes later even Nathan Patterson made an appearance, replacing Ashley Young. The fullback looked lively in his short spell, forcing a save by Onana off a DCL header.
The Blues's last change was supposed to be Harrison Armstrong coming in, but instead Jake O'Brien got a few minutes replacing Tarky.
### **Final Thoughts**
Simple not good enough from Dyche or his charges. The Blues now haven't scored in four straight games, and can't also afford to be that leaky in defence, much like they started the season.
Mykolenko has been poor for weeks now, and really needs benching. Young sliding over and Patterson starting has to be the way to go now, with Seamus Coleman likely fit again too.
Really looks like Dyche has lost the dressing room, so to speak. The players are bereft of confidence, and seem lost on the pitch.
Hard to see how anything will change unless something significant changes.
