What Enzo Maresca and Enzo Fernandez were seen doing straight after Chelsea's first goal vs Villa - journalist

Nicolas Jackson got Chelsea off to a great start in their Premier League game against Aston Villa earlier.

Chelsea went 1-0 up in the seventh minute after Nicolas Jackson converted Marc Cucurella’s cross.

It was the striker’s eighth goal of the season, showing why he is keeping Christopher Nkunku out of the team.

The Frenchman has only made one Premier League start this term; however, it has been claimed that Nkunku wants to fight for his place instead of quitting Chelsea. Like Nkunku, Enzo Fernandez had also found himself out of the side but has now started the Blues’ last two league games.

Enzo Maresca calls over Enzo Fernandez

Enzo Maresca would have been pleased with how Chelsea started their game against Villa after his side took an early lead.

The Chelsea manager would not have had too many complaints after the first 10 minutes of the match.

Even so, Maresca called Fernandez over straight after Jackson’s goal to give him some instructions, with journalist Rahman Osman spotting the two in deep conversation.

Before the game, Levi Colwill had praised Maresca for how well he has set Chelsea up in matches this season.

Enzo Fernandez responds to dropping

If Fernandez’s last two performances are anything to go by, then he should probably be one of the first names on the teamsheet.

The 23-year-old scored in Chelsea’s wins against Villa and Leicester City, taking his most recent goal excellently.

Fernandez got in one Team of the Week for his showing at the King Power Stadium last Saturday after putting in a fantastic performance and put in a similar display at Stamford Bridge earlier.

Chelsea’s next game is against Southampton at St Mary’s, so Maresca may want to rotate some players. But if he does not feel that Fernandez needs any rest, then the Argentina international should be starting that match and going forward.
