Man United duo to miss Arsenal clash in major blow to Ruben Amorim

Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim will be without two stars for the clash against Arsenal.

Amorim will face his toughest test since taking over at Old Trafford on Wednesday when his side travels to the capital.

Unfortunately he will not have Lisandro Martinez and Kobbie Mainoo available to include in his squad after the pair picked up yellow cards in United's fixture against Everton, earning them a one-match suspension each.

Mainoo went into the referee's book in the 49th minute when he hauled down Dwight McNeil just outside the United 18-yard box.

Martinez received a caution two minutes later when he pulled back Toffees striker Beto, who looked to get on the end of a through-ball.

Although both of their actions may have prevented goalscoring moments against Everton, it's now come at a significant cost.

The Everton fixture marked Mainoo's first start under Amorim having been an unused substitute for United against Ipswich Town and Bodo/Glimt.

As for Martinez, he missed the Ipswich fixture before returning to the starting line-up against Bodo/Glimt and was taken off on the hour mark in favour of Luke Shaw.

Although the loss of two key members presents an issue, Amorim emphasised prior to the Everton fixture he will be constantly re-shuffling his team.

"We have to do it (rotate), especially in this moment because we have a lot of games, and we are in the beginning of something," Amorim said.

"They have to feel that they are part of the team, so they are international players, they will rotate.

"We will try to manage to try and win every game and not just focus on this game, have a clear idea of how to play and everybody has to be on the same page."

Amorim's side will come up against an Arsenal team riding high after thrashing West Ham 5-2 on Saturday.

Bukayo Saka scored a penalty and registered two assists in a man-of-the-match display that lifted the Gunners up to second on the table.

It was the second-straight game Mikel Arteta's side had scored five goals after they dispatched Amorim's former club Sporting 5-1 in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Remarkably, Arsenal had five different goalscorers in both of those contests, highlighting the attacking threats they possess across the team.
