Manchester United 4-0 Everton: Amad, Rashford and Zirkzee shine in Amorim’s first PL win

[Manchester United](https://thebusbybabe.sbnation.com) picked up their first Premier League win under Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford on Sunday, thrashing [Everton](https://royalbluemersey.sbnation.com) to the tune of 4-0 as the team and fanbase returned to life.

Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee were the names on the scoresheet for the win, but it was Amad Diallo who pulled the strings at Old Trafford with a dazzling display on the right wing. He pressed, provided two assists, and looked every bit the creative threat fans have had a glimpse of for years but never had the chance to see shine consistently in Red.

Amad moved back to the right-wing/wing-back position while Bruno Fernandes completed the front three alongside Rashford and Zirkzee. Kobbie Mainoo made his return to the side and looked sharp from the start, even though he will miss the next match against Arsenal due to yellow card accumulation.

From the start, the midfielders were making their mark. Mainoo had an early chance while Amad and Bruno served as the primary ball progressors.

The Reds didn’t break through in the opening minutes as they did in the previous two matches, but when they did strike it was the first domino falling, and no looking back from there.

Rashford found the net in the 34th minute, taking a chance on a low strike back into the box after a corner kick bypassed everyone in the area. It was a shot that would have given Jordan Pickford problems had it reached him, but an attempted block by Jarrad Branthwaite sent the ball to the other side of the England no. 1 to open the scoring.

It wasn’t long before the Toffees were down another goal, thanks to some good team pressing. Amad picked the ball off the foot of Branthwaite after a poor back pass left the defender under pressure, and had Bruno Fernandes running alongside to pounce on the loose ball. A square pass to Zirkzee a couple of seconds later and the lead was doubled.

United probably deserved something from the first half, but the real threat came from their transition play. The chances were limited until then, but it was almost as though they had cracked the code and knew exactly how to beat Everton from there.

The Blues struggled mightily out of the gate in the second half. It took only 30 seconds for a quick combo play in midfield to turn into another goal with Amad finding Rashford for the finish.

It was reminiscent of the kind of goal United used to score so often. Just one or two passes to find the space and they were off and running. Sure, it was poor shape and defense from Everton, but the sort of indecision that plagued the attack last season was nowhere to be seen as the Reds capped a fine performance with four goals.

The final, again scored by Zirkzee, came from another great moment from Amad. He underestimated the touch when trying to move past a pair of Blues defenders, but didn’t squander a second chance at it after a poor recovery effort. He skipped past Tarkowski and found Zirkzee free for the brace.

Great vibes win, great to see the forwards finding the net, and the return of 4-0 FC.

We’re so back? It’s just Everton?

Who knows, who cares, enjoy the wins while you have them. Big questions come later.

Have a nice day, we go again at the Emirates on Wednesday.
