West Ham United conceded five goals against Arsenal on Saturday, and the home supporters were caught in a “Hockey, Cokey” moment, Matt Law shared.

The London Stadium welcomed the Gunners on 30 November in the Premier League, and Lukasz Fabianski was beaten five times in the first half alone, with Gabriel Magalhaes, Leandro Trossard, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka finding the back of the net.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Emerson Palmieri gave the Hammers’ faithful some hope after beating David Raya towards the end of the opening 45 minutes, and Law took to X to reveal that the supporters were caught in two minds.

“Remarkable first half. West Ham fans walked out, walked back in and walked out again. It’s the Hokey Cokey here. Follow the second half.”

West Ham United crumble against Arsenal

West Ham’s defence crumbled against Arsenal, and despite some decent performances from a few players, Julen Lopetegui will undoubtedly be fuming at how the Irons conceded.

The Spanish head coach has been under extreme pressure this season due to consistently poor performances, but the 2-0 victory against Newcastle on 25 November seemed to be a turning point for the Hammers.

While Dan Bardell has told West Ham Zone that the win at St James’ Park would’ve eased concerns around Lopetegui’s future, at least until January, the manner of defeat against Arsenal should be concerning for the 58-year-old.

West Ham made a number of quality additions to their backline in the summer, with the likes of Max Kilamn, Jean-Clair Todibo and Wan-Bissaka being signed.

The partnership between Kilman and Todibo hasn’t worked as of yet, and the Spanish head coach needs to bring Konstantinos Mavropanos back into the starting lineup.

With Leicester City, Wolves and Bournemouth up next for the Hammers, nothing short of nine points from the three matches will be acceptable for the London Stadium faithful.

In other West Ham news, Henry Winter and Shaun Custis agree on the controversy with Fabianski against Arsenal.
