Chelsea were dominant in all aspects against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge on Sunday afternoon, a well-deserved win for Enzo Maresca’s side.
Aston Villa arrived in west London without a win in their last seven games, but Chelsea weren’t in a charitable mood to help their woes.
Unai Emery and his side suffered another defeat in the Premier League, meaning they’ve now slipped to 12th place.
Villa looked lethargic at the back from the off, they were often being caught out by Chelsea’s press.
When they did get a chance, Ollie Watkins never looked like scoring – a sentence you wouldn’t have written last season.
Unai Emery thinks Chelsea are a much ‘stronger’ team this season
That being said, Chelsea deserve praise for their end of the performance, the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Cole Palmer were excellent once again.
And speaking after the game via journalist Nizaar Kinsella, who posted the comments on X, Emery was extremely complimentary about the home side.

Last season with Mauricio Pochettino in charge, Chelsea failed to beat Villa in the league, drawing 2-2 away from home and losing 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.
But after Sunday’s defeat, Emery pointed out a big change that he’s noticed under Maresca, one that bodes well for Chelsea in the future.
Emery said: “Chelsea showed today that this year is different, they are stronger, don’t have doubts last year, their physical capacity is higher, they deserved to win and showed their power this year.”
Cole Palmer extends incredible scoring record vs Aston Villa
On an excellent afternoon for Chelsea, Palmer’s brilliant late strike was the cherry on top.
By his standards, the England international didn’t even have his best game, yet he went home with a goal, an assist and the player of the match award.
And after his curling strike, Palmer has now scored against every single Premier League side he has faced as a Chelsea player, beside Liverpool and Leicester City.
It’s a remarkable record, and the former Manchester City player will surely be itching to face both sides at home in the second half of the season.
A brilliant win for Chelsea, and one that keeps them in the top four before travelling to Southampton.
