Alexander Isak is one of the best players in the Premier League. Since joining Newcastle United in August of 2022 for £70 million, since then the twenty-five-year-old has scored forty goals in seventy-nine appearances for the Magpies. Ranked as the thirty-fourth most valuable player in the world by Transfermarkt, he is one of the best young strikers. Any top club would love to secure his signature as the number nine enters his prime years. The two clubs which have shown interest in acquiring his services are London giants Arsenal and Chelsea.
Both teams have been linked to numerous strikers but a proven Premier League player like Alexander Isak will surely be up the wish list. Even though Isak’s talent is undeniable, the price tag of £115 million is perceived to be a bit too much. During the summer, Newcastle managed to keep hold of star players like Anthony Gordon and Bruno Guimares. But selling Isak can help them with the recent restrictions they have faced due to Financial Fair Play.
Arsenal and Chelsea are looking at an asking price of around £80 million. They have been linked to other players, in case Isak doesn’t sign. Let’s talk about the possible move and who the rumored backup is, in case the Alexander Isak transfer doesn’t happen.
Alexander Isak at Arsenal
Arsenal’s desire for a new striker is well-known. Gabriel Jesus has failed to make his mark during his time at Arsenal, injuries and inconsistency have made it difficult for him to cement his place in the eleven. Kai Havert can play as the striker because of his physicality and decision-making, but his inability to convert chances is a glaring hole and can sometimes be extremely frustrating.
This is where Alexander Isak comes in. Signing him will be a step in the right direction for The Gunners. It will put them in a better position to challenge for titles.
David Ornstein recently claimed that Alexander is the type of player that Mikel Arteta would like to have. Isak’s quickness combined with his size and strength make him a nightmare for opposition defenders. He is a proven premier league player and makes good decisions with the ball in key situations.
If the North Londoners can get him, it will be a huge upgrade for them. It will be a huge boost to their title challenge and at the same time help Isak lead the attack for one of the best teams in the world while competing for every possible trophy. One of the things that can stop this deal from happening is the asking price. This is the reason behind both Chelsea and Arsenal keeping a close eye on RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.
Who can join if the Isak transfer fails?
Chelsea were close to signing one of the best strikers in the world, Victor Osimhen. Alexander Isak is another name on Chelsea’s list, but I highly doubt they’ll sign Isak and Osimhen. Nicholas Jackson has been great this season and there is no way he is going to be the third choice in the future.

Benjamin Sesko is one of the first names that pop up when you think about the plan B for both teams. Sesko decided to stay for another year at Leipzig after Arsenal came close to signing him. They can return for him this year too.
Players like Viktor Gyokeres and Dusan Vlahovic have also been linked to Arsenal but if Arsenal doesn’t go for a superstar signing, then Benjamin Sesko can be the one that they sign.
