Pep Guardiola's brilliant response as Liverpool fans chanted 'you're getting sacked in the…

Manchester City have lost to Liverpool 2-0 in the Premier League.

Manchester City are now seven games without a win in all competitions, and were comfortably beaten at Anfield.

City barely laid a glove on the Reds, as the same issues were on show once more for the visitors.

Mo Salah crossed for Cody Gakpo to score in the first-half and City had just one effort at goal in the first 45 through Rico Lewis.

Liverpool scored through Mo Salah via the penalty spot in the second-half, after Stefan Ortega cleaned out Luis Diaz after a defensive mix-up with Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker.

Towards the end of the game, Liverpool fans poked fun at Pep Guardiola, suggesting his job could be on the line – but the Spaniard had a brilliant response.

With the game petering out, Liverpool fans were obviously loving what they were seeing.

The reality is that the Reds were just superior to City in every department on the day.

In the closing stages of the game, the chant of ‘You’re getting sacked in the morning’ could be heard ringing around Anfield, and that actually drew a little smile from Guardiola.

He then held up six fingers to the crowd to indicate how many Premier League titles he has won since he arrived at Manchester City.

According to BBC reporter John Murray, he also applauded them.

Guardiola has major work to do

This was another tough day at the office for City, who look like they really need the January transfer window now.

The loss of Rodri to injury has been absolutely colossal, with the likes of Ilkay Gundogan and Bernardo Silva just not able to operate in midfield to anywhere near the same standard.

It was men against boys at times at Anfield, and it’s now pretty difficult to look past Liverpool for the Premier League title this season.

This City squad seems to have reached the end of its cycle, and work must begin in January ready for next season.

Then, when Hugo Viana comes in, several new players must be signed.
