What Pep Guardiola did to Liverpool fans as Man City boss emulates Jose Mourinho as Arsenal watch on

Pep Guardiola cut a disconsolate figure during most of the match at Anfield on Sunday. The big match of the Premier League weekend ended with Liverpool winning 2-0 against their title rivals Manchester City.

It was City's fourth straight Premier League defeat and their seventh game without a win in all competitions as the champions' slump continued.

Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah bagged the goals to secure all three points in a result that leaves Liverpool nine points clear at the top of the Premier League table. It is now Arsenal who are the Reds' closest challengers in the table.

Guardiola could be seen spending most of the match sitting in the dugout as Liverpool ripped through his City side time and again. But he did venture out onto the touchline towards the end of the match and was given both barrels by the Liverpool supporters.

Given their run of form the Anfield faithful chanted "you're getting sacked in the morning" to the City boss. And while Guardiola would have been desperately dissppointed to lose the match with such a poor run of form continuing, he decided to have a bit of fun on the sidelines.

Hurting inside, Guardiola did not show it and instead showed a wry smile before holding six fingers up to the Liverpool supporters, signifying his six Premier League titles won at the Etihad Stadium.

It was a leaf out of former Chelsea, Manxchester United and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho. Mourinho is no stranger to controversy and called out disrespect to his work when he was the United boss in a press conference raising his fingers up and showing he had won more titles than all of the other managers in the Premier League at that time put together.

Guardiola will undoubtedly be under pressure, but having just signed a new contract at the club, he will eb the one to turn it around.
