Manchester United are off the mark in the Premier League under Ruben Amorim with a 4-0 win vs Everton at Old Trafford.
Even putting aside the scoreline, this was the most complete of the three games under Ruben Amorim as once Man Utd got the first goal, they just ramped up the pressure.
The foot was firmly on the opponent’s neck after that and not once did it look like United would surrender that lead.
Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee helped themselves to a brace but Amad was the star vs Everton in the 4-0 win which will have Amorim smiling ear to ear for now.
With Arsenal up next, this was the best possible result as United did something they never did in more than two years under Ten Hag.

Ruben Amorim’s Man Utd set themselves apart
Granted, Erik ten Hag didn’t cast that large a shadow at United because outside of his two trophies, he oversaw just over a season of pure incompetence.
Still, the job to be done at Old Trafford was massive, especially since Amorim insisted that they need time but they’ll need to win time by winning games.
They needed to set themselves apart from the stench of the previous coaching staff and establishing a playing style was the first step towards it.
MORE UNITED STORIES
That will take a while before it becomes second nature but against Everton, Amorim’s United already achieved something that they never did under Ten Hag.
It was the first time since August 2021 that United have won a league game by a margin of four goals, regardless of the clean sheet.
The last time it happened was under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer when United won 5-1 against Leeds United at Old Trafford.
Man Utd playing with confidence in a system
Amorim came with extremely highly-rated credentials already as his system had claimed scalps like Manchester City before arriving at Old Trafford.
In the early days, when the players are effectively learning on the job a new system and a style of playing, wins like these get buy-in from the players.
Most importantly, it no longer looks like the team is dependent on one player to an extreme end, as evidenced by Bruno Fernandes coming off just after 60 minutes.
Amorim has rotated extensively but the principles of play remain the same and the players know what to do, regardless of who they are. That is the biggest compliment that can be paid to a new manager.
There will undoubtedly be growing pains in the coming days, perhaps as soon as at Arsenal midweek, but there is enough evidence already that Amorim is taking this team somewhere on the up.
