Video: How Pep Guardiola responded after Liverpool fans chanted 'you're getting sacked in the morning'

Liverpool recorded a statement 2-0 win against Manchester City as they opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Goals from Cody Gakpo and Mohamed Salah gave the Reds all three points in a game they dominated at Anfield, particularly in the first half.

Manchester City have now lost four Premier League games in a row and are 11 points behind Liverpool as their title defence took another massive blow.

And to run salt into their wounds, Liverpool fans piled on Pep Guardiola’s misery shortly before the full-time whistle.

While the Reds dominated the first half and should have been ahead by more than one goal, Gakpo’s close-range goal turned out to be the difference before the interval.

However, the visitors slowly grew in stature as the game went on and threatened to hit back in the second half.

Liverpool absorbed all the pressure and struck the telling blow of the game through Salah, calmly dispatched a penalty after Luis Diaz was fouled in the box by Stefan Ortega.

Shortly after Salah scored and appeared to put the game beyond reasonable doubt, the Anfield faithful were in full voice.

And they appeared to take a sly dig at Guardiola as they chanted ‘Pep Guardiola, you’re getting sacked in the morning.’

How did Guardiola respond?

It hasn’t been a good spell for Manchester City as they are winless in six games across all competitions.

To make matters worse, they suffered another defeat at Anfield and have fallen to fifth in the table.

Despite their position in the table, Guardiola responded rather bullishly to the chants at Anfield as he gestured ‘six’ to signify the number of Premier League titles he’s won.

Gary Neville also noticed what the Manchester City boss did, as he said live on Sky Sports: “Neville: A little smirk, a little six [held up].”

Classy as ever, eh Pep?
