Chelsea star Cole Palmer taunts Aston Villa rival on social media with seven-word brag

Chelsea star Cole Palmer aimed a cheeky swipe at Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers on social media after the Blues celebrated a 3-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

The 22-year-old was the star performer during Sunday's match, setting up Enzo Fernandez's goal and curled home a stunning third himself to seal the points.

Despite not scoring in three matches prior to the game, it appears Palmer had backed himself to impress when he leaked a Snapchat conversation with his international team-mate Rogers.

The pair appeared to have been discussing the match in the build-up to the clash in west London, with Rogers poking the bear by insisting Palmer would blank again.

In the screenshot, which was posted to Palmer's official Instagram page, the Middlesbrough trainee wrote: "No goals against Villa."

But Palmer wasn't fazed by his friend's comment, hitting back with his prediction that the "player of match [award] is comin[g] back with me."

Rogers would live to regret doubting Palmer, who made it eight goals for the season and six assists this season for the Blues.

True to his word, Palmer posted an image of his man-of-the-match award alongside a screenshot of the conversation to rub salt into the wounds of his close pal.

It was Palmer's first goal in four games after a minor blip for the England international and he earned a standing ovation from the home support when he was replaced by Joao Felix late on.

Chelsea had taken the lead after six minutes through Nicolas Jackson, who netted his eighth of the campaign after volleying home.

Then Fernandez doubled the lead after the break when the Argentinian was fed the ball by Palmer, before prodding home from the edge of the box.

And the youngster continued to produce magic in the blue shirt, bending a 20-yard effort into the top corner. Unfortunately for Rogers, the 22-year-old was hooked midway through the second half after an ineffectual display as he failed to add to his three goals this season.

As Villa embark upon a long trip back to Birmingham on a disappointing note, the attacking midfielder may think twice about giving Palmer such motivation again.
