Cole Palmer has poked fun at close friend Morgan Rogers after Chelsea's 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

Nicolas Jackson opened the scoring in the seventh minute, before Palmer set up Enzo Fernandez to double the lead. The England international got in on the act himself later in the second half, brilliantly bending the ball past Robin Olsen from the edge of the box.

Emi Martinez was replaced by Olsen at half-time after suffering a hand injury in the first period. The Swede made his first appearance of the season but was left helpless when Palmer struck at goal in the 83rd minute.

Palmer backed himself to impress against Villa as he leaked a Snapchat conversation with his former Manchester City teammate Rogers after full-time.

The pair appeared to have been discussing the match in the build-up to the clash in the capital with Rogers claiming Palmer would blank for the fourth match in a row.

In the screenshot, which was posted to Palmer's official Instagram page, Rogers wrote: "No goals against Villa." The Chelsea star then responded: "Player of match [award] is comin[g] back with me."

Not long after full-time, Palmer posted an image of his man-of-the-match award alongside a screenshot of the conversation to rub salt into the wounds of his close pal.
