Liam Delap has earned rave reviews this season but Ipswich’s 21-year-old hotshot was upstaged by another powerful centre forward more than a decade his senior at the City Ground.
Chris Wood, 32, struck the winning penalty for his 24th Nottingham Forest Premier League goal, equalling a club record.
‘We do look towards him when we need something and he always produces,’ said winger Callum Hudson-Odoi.
‘Whenever he’s in the box he’s a threat but he’s added other dimensions to his game. He can come short and link up. He can spread the ball or hold it up. He’s got more in his locker than just being a target man.’
In contrast, Delap’s main contribution on Saturday was to divert the ball from Conor Chaplin when he had a tap-in at 0-0.

Delap is tipped to one day succeed Harry Kane for England but Chaplin doesn’t want to add more pressure with Ipswich in a relegation scrap and facing fellow strugglers Crystal Palace tomorrow.
‘Liam has all the attributes you want in a modern No 9 but he has scope to get better,’ said Chaplin. He’s still learning.’
