When is the FA Cup third-round draw? Newcastle United ball number, live stream

The FA Cup trophy before the FA Cup semi final match at Wembley Stadium.

The FA Cup third round draw will take place on Monday.

Newcastle United have a league cup quarter-final on the horizon as they bid to move a significant step closer to Wembley by reaching the last-four of the Carabao Cup. Not long after that clash with Brentford attention will soon start turning to the beginning of another shot at winning the FA Cup, with the third round to get underway in January.

This century has not brought much to talk about in the FA Cup for Newcastle in terms of reaching the final after successive final appearances closed out the last century, could this campaign be different?

The road to Wembley starts with the third round, which is all set to take place. We've got the details you need of when the draw is and how to follow it.

When is the draw?

The third round draw will take place on Monday night live on BBC Two with host Kelly Somers guiding viewers through the draw and she will be no doubt be joined by a couple of ex-players. Unusually, there is no game on Monday night, with the final outing of the second round being live on ITV yesterday afternoon. Which should mean we can get straight into the draw.

Who will be in it?

All 20 winners from round two will be in the draw, joining all 20 Premier League clubs and all 24 teams from the Championship, including of course, Leeds, who will be hoping for a home draw.

How can we watch it?

The draw will be live on the BBC, as well as via the iPlayer. ChronicleLive will have live coverage of the draw from 7pm on Monday evening, too, so you can follow it with us right here.

When will the games take place?

In a slight change to previous seasons, the third round will take place over the weekend of January 11th and 12th. It's likely there will be a Friday night game, and potentially one on Monday, January 13, too. As has been well-documented, there will be no replays, so games will be decided on the day, with extra-time and penalties if needed.
