Nottingham Forest interested in striker who would 'fit in with their strategy of growth'

Nottingham Forest are interested in Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to a report.

Spanish website Fichajes says the Reds have joined the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur as keen on the 27-year-old.

Calvert-Lewin had made 12 consecutive Premier League starts for the Toffees this season, before Beto started in Sunday’s 4-0 loss to Manchester United. Calvert-Lewin came off the bench after the fourth goal. He has scored twice so far this term.

To be fair to the centre forward his availability this season – and to a large extent last – will be a massive boost having had so many injury troubles in recent years.

On his day the Sheffield-born target man is a powerful aerial presence and of a profile that could work in Nuno Espirito Santo’s team.

Chris Wood has shouldered much of the goal-scoring responsibility for the Reds this season, with Taiwo Awoniyi’s opportunities limited by form and fitness.

Calvert-Lewin has scored 70 goals during his Everton career and made 11 appearances for England. Intriguingly for Forest his contract expires at the end of the season making him an experienced and relatively cost-effective option up front. Indeed the report says 'the potential arrival of Calvert-Lewin would fit in with their strategy of growth in the Premier League'.

However, Everton are thought to remain keen on retaining his services even though he can technically negotiate with overseas clubs from next month.
