During Ange Postecoglou’s tenure, Tottenham have typically delivered respectable performances at home, even when results didn’t fall in their favour. However, that trend seems to be shifting, with their last three home games against Ipswich, Roma, and Fulham proving difficult to endure.
In last Sunday’s Fulham clash, Spurs were fortunate to scrape a point, as Marco Silva’s side appeared more dangerous until a late red card tilted the balance. Despite the lacklustre team effort, Postecoglou singled out one Spurs player for praise after the underwhelming showing against Fulham. Tottenham currently sit seventh in the table, a position that leaves them far from Champions League contention.
Ange Postecoglou commends Fraser Forster’s Impact
Tottenham fans will likely feel more at ease about Guglielmo Vicario’s injury following Fraser Forster’s strong performances against Roma and Fulham. The 36-year-old Englishman, who joined from Southampton in the 2021/22 season, has made just 21 appearances for the Lilywhites, keeping seven clean sheets while earning £75,000 per week. However, he truly stepped up today, making five crucial saves to carry the team.
If not for Fraser Forster’s crucial interventions, Spurs would have suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat at home.
Much like in the 2-2 draw against AS Roma, the Englishman bailed out his defence on multiple occasions. Ange Postecoglou was highly impressed by Forster’s performance, acknowledging the challenge of losing Guglielmo Vicario but commending Forster for stepping up when it mattered most. The Spurs boss also praised the goalkeeper’s exceptional work ethic.
In the post game presser, interviewed by Journo AlasdairGold, Ange remarked
“Yeah, he was good. We needed him in some big moments today. When you lose someone as important as Vic, you need someone experienced who isn’t going to be overawed by stepping in. We see Fraser every day and we know his really strong work ethic.”

More Tottenham News
Apart from Fraser Forster and the experienced Ben Davies, nearly every Tottenham player has struggled to reach their usual standards in these past two games.
Signs of fatigue are becoming evident across the squad, posing a significant concern for Ange Postecoglou, especially with Tottenham’s growing injury list. Facing Bournemouth will be a tough challenge if the team doesn’t step up, as they can’t always rely on Forster to bail them out.
