Arsenal have considered making a move to sign Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin upon the expiry of his contract, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that the 27-year-old may see a move as his last chance to land what would be a big contract should he make the move.

The possibility to move without a transfer fee would also likely see a boost in the sign-on bonus and wages Calvert-Lewin would receive.

AC Milan and Newcastle have also expressed an interest in landing the striker on a potential free transfer to bolster their attacking options.

There had been suggestions that clubs could make a move in the January transfer window, with the possibility of a cut-price deal thanks to his transfer situation.

However, Football Insider revealed on 29 November that Everton are reluctant to let their main man leave mid-way through the season given his importance to Sean Dyche’s side.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin saga takes new twist amid Arsenal interest

Calvert-Lewin’s hold-up play, aerial ability and ability to bring his teammates into the game is viewed as a valuable asset for the way Dyche’s team set up.

Despite that, his record of just two goals in 13 games across all competitions so far this season has raised red flags, while he hasn’t hit double figures in goals since the 2020-21 season.

As a result, former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that the Toffees are working on a move to sign a new striker in January.

Everton have struggled for goals yet again this season and have failed to score in any of their last four games, and are now searching to add a prolific centre-forward to their squad.

As a result, there have been suggestions that they would entertain offers for Calvert-Lewin, although they are more likely to lose him come the end of the season.
