Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has been dealt a devastating double suspension blow ahead of Wednesday's Premier League encounter with Arsenal at the Emirates.
The Red Devils ran out comfortable 4-0 winners over Everton on Sunday, but Kobbie Mainoo and Lisandro Martinez both picked up their fifth yellow cards of the top-flight season, ruling them out of Wednesday's affair.
The concerns do not end there for Amorim, as influential skipper Bruno Fernandes sparked concern when he was seen with an ice pack on his ankle after being taken off at the weekend, while Leny Yoro (foot), Jonny Evans (knock) and Victor Lindelof (groin) are also in the medical bay.
It is not all doom and gloom for Man United on the injury front, though, as Harry Maguire was fit enough to come off the bench in the win over Everton and could be a like-for-like swap for the banned Martinez at the back.
Maguire should comprise part of an otherwise untouched backline of Andre Onana, Matthijs de Ligt and Noussair Mazraoui, although Luke Shaw is another option to step into Martinez's shoes.
However, the England international may instead be preferred as Amorim's left wing-back up against Bukayo Saka, although Amad Diallo's man-of-the-match performance on the opposite side at the weekend warrants a start at the Emirates.
Mason Mount would be an attack-minded option to replace Mainoo, but Amorim will likely side with the more defensive Manuel Ugarte to join forces with Casemiro, and the Portuguese has the best kind of selection dilemmas up front after Joshua Zirkzee and Marcus Rashford's braces on Sunday.
Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund are also fighting to return to the XI, and as Amorim has not been afraid to rotate his resources, he could promote both of them back to the attacking trident over Rashford and the stricken Fernandes.
Zirkzee demonstrated his class as both a playmaker and goalscorer in the Everton success, though, so the Dutchman may start as one of Amorim's number 10s behind the recalled Hojlund.
Manchester United possible starting lineup:
Onana; Mazraoui, De Ligt, Maguire; Diallo, Casemiro, Ugarte, Shaw; Zirkzee, Garnacho; Hojlund
