David Moyes has slammed Everton ace James Tarkowski for his “really poor” defensive performance in their 4-0 Premier League defeat against Manchester United on Sunday.
The defender was stood near the halfway line of the pitch and didn’t manage to clear the ball in time before Marcus Rashford came and nicked the ball from him, which helped Joshua Zirkzee bag a goal at Old Trafford.
Speaking live on Match of the Day 2 (1 December, 39:20), former Everton and Manchester United boss Moyes shared his thoughts on the performance of the Englishman.
“[Everton] just seemed to give goals away today,” he said. “Which is really really unlike Everton and [Sean] Dyche’s sides.
“Just here generally, I’m looking at Everton and saying well they can’t get out of that spot, you’ve got to win the ball.

“Tarky will not like this at all because this looks really poor. He should deal with this much better – either he’s got to tackle it or he’s got to pass it out.
“It just didn’t didn’t really seem like Everton there.”
Everton and Sean Dyche need to buck their ideas up
Even though the Toffees aren’t in the Premier League relegation zone, they’re still more than in the battle to try and survive.
The last few seasons for the team have been difficult, especially last term when Everton were deducted points on two separate occasions due to two separate breaches of the Premier League’s PSR rules.
Although the club survived last term, this season, despite not being deducted any more points, it’s felt like the club have found themselves in a worse position.
They currently sit 15th in the Premier League table with 11 points to their name and are four points adrift of 14th-placed West Ham while only being two points away from the drop zone.

Dyche’s contract is set to expire at the end of the season, and with the Friedkin Group looking likely to complete their takeover by the end of 2025, it doesn’t look like he has long to convince them he’s the right man for the job.
Only time will tell what the future holds, but if Everton can’t re-find their form soon, it could be curtains for the 53-year-old.
