Arsenal are reportedly on the verge of appointing Roberto Olabe as their new sporting director, following the departure of Edu Gaspar to Nottingham Forest.
According toFoot Mercato, negotiations between the Gunners and Olabe have reached an advanced stage, with the Real Sociedad chief emerging as the leading candidate to take over the role at the Emirates Stadium.
This development is expected to be a significant boost for Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who has been working closely with top-level professionals to strengthen the squad through strategic recruitment.

Olabe, 57, is highly regarded for his work at Real Sociedad, where he has continued to play a vital role in the club’s resurgence. His tenure also saw the La Liga side consistently finish in the league’s top six, a testament to his shrewd transfer dealings and long-term planning.

Edu’s departure last month marked the end of an era for Arsenal. Despite being offered a substantial pay rise at Arsenal, Edu opted for a new challenge at Nottingham Forest, where he will work in a multi-club role under Evangelos Marinakis.
Replacing Edu will be no small task, but Olabe’s track record of identifying talent and fostering success at Real Sociedad suggests he is well-equipped to take on the challenge. With Arsenal aiming to remain competitive in the Premier League and Europe, Olabe’s potential arrival signals their intent to maintain high standards in recruitment and squad development.
