Barcelona full-back target is now getting closer to a renewal with his current club

Alongside the left-wing, FC Barcelona are also prioritizing the reinforcement of their fullback positions in the upcoming summer transfer window.

As things stand, the Blaugranes have Alejandro Balde and Jules Kounde as their starters on the flanks, and although Hector Fort has gained greater prominence in recent weeks, the replacements of these two starters are rather inexperienced youngsters.

Thus, the Blaugranes want to bring in other top fullbacks to compete with these starters, and one of the players they have been linked with recently is the Bayern Munich defender, Alphonso Davies.

The Canadian has his contract with the Bavarian club expiring at the end of this season, and this situation has made him one of the most interesting players for the next summer transfer window, and several clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in him.

Negotiations between the club and the player for his renewal were at a standstill for the last few months, but as SPORT has reported, there has been an unexpected twist in this regard, as these two parties are now getting closer to one another.

The report claims that relations between Davies’ agent, Nick Huoseh, and Bayern Munich are improving, and the player has also lowered his salary demands. After making it very difficult to reach an agreement, the Canadian now regrets his previous actions and is now willing to cooperate with the German side.

A recent undesirable event has also played a role in these developments. The fullback was recently caught driving under the influence of alcohol, and that too only 24 hours before his side’s crunch game against Borussia Dortmund.

However, the Bayern Munich coach, Vincent Kompany, still decided to give a starting role to Davies in this game, which ended in a 1-1 draw. The report claims that this start was a part of the negotiations that are underway between the two sides.

Despite this recent warmth in relations, Davies’ future at Bayern Munich is still quite uncertain, and it remains to be seen where he will be playing next season.
