Jadon Sancho has congratulated his former teammates following Manchester United's 4-0 win over Everton. Marcus Rashford and Joshua Zirkzee fired Ruben Amorim's side to glory at Old Trafford on Sunday afternoon, extending the Red Devils' unbeaten streak to seven games.
Later that evening, the England international marked the victory with a celebratory post on Instagram, which eclipsed half a million likes. Bruno Fernandes, who recorded two assists against the Toffees, also uploaded, writing: "A nice Sunday at home [red heart emoji."
According to the Manchester Evening News, Sancho, who joined Chelsea on loan from United late into the summer transfer window, showed his support for the duo and 'liked' each of their posts.
Pedro Neto also 'liked' Fernandes' post, meanwhile, Moises Caicedo 'liked' the post from Rashford. While the Red Devils stormed past Everton, Sancho played a crucial role in the Blues' 3-0 win over Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge before he was replaced by Noni Madueke in the second half.
The United loanee has enjoyed a brilliant start to life at Chelsea, providing five assists in eight games. Just last week, Enzo Maresca described Sancho as a 'very important' player in the West Londoners' system.
"It’s very important he was back," said the Italian. "I have said since we started that Jadon is very important for us. He has to be fit mentally and physically, because he is going to help us a lot."
"Unfortunately we couldn’t use him for a few games, but last night he showed again how important he is for us," added Maresca. "He is what we need, especially against a team that defends with a low block.
"We need that quality in the last third, the last pass and he can shoot, sometimes he will shoot more than he did against Heidenheim. But I think he is going to help us a lot."
Chelsea signed Sancho from United on a season-long loan, which, football.london understands, includes an obligation-to-buy. The Blues were long admirers of the Englishman, who made a name for himself as one of the most exciting young players in Europe during his time in the Manchester City youth setup.
He's hit the ground running at Stamford Bridge, and his strong feelings for the club come as no surprise. In an interview with the official Chelsea website upon his arrival, Sancho said: "London is where I grew up and I’m happy to be back.
"Chelsea is iconic. My idols growing up were Didier Drogba and Frank Lampard and now I have the opportunity to play for this club like them. It’s a great feeling."
