Sean Dyche is the best manager to help Everton out of the position they find themselves in, Alan Pardew has said.

The former Crystal Palace boss was speaking on talkSPORT [1 December] after the Toffees’ 4-0 loss to Manchester United and gave the Englishman his vote of confidence.

At Old Trafford, the Blues suffered their sixth defeat of the campaign in the Premier League as they now sit just two points above the relegation zone.

Pardew believes Dyche is still the right person to bring the Merseyside outfit out of the difficulty, saying: “They’re in trouble. We can’t hide from that. Is there a better man out there than Sean to get them out of it? I’m not so sure there is.”

The 53-year-old has shown nothing while at Goodison to prove he can take the Toffees to Bramley-Moore Dock with their heads held high.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

With the Blues set to move to their new stadium at the start of next season, it’s unsurprising to see concerns among the fanbase about the Merseysiders being able to keep their status in the English top flight in the last campaign at Goodison.

No legal impediments are preventing Farhad Moshiri and Dan Friedkin from sacking Dyche [The Esk, 1 December], and the hierarchy need to make the right call before things get worse.

The English head coach is lucky to still be in a job after losing the opening four fixtures of the campaign, and Everton supporters wouldn’t have batted an eye had he been relieved of his duties at that point.

Since then, things have gone better in terms of the Toffees picking up points, but the displays that the Goodison faithful have had to endure have been beyond embarrassing.

Fans thought the 0-0 draw against West Ham was the low point, but Dyche managed to get his team to play worse in the Brentford stalemate.

The former Burnley manager should be concerned, having conceded four against a United side low on confidence after the dismissal of Erik ten Hag, and with a manager in Ruben Amorim still getting up to speed in the English top flight.

Pardew is entitled to his opinion, but the ones suffering at the moment are the Blues’ fans, who overwhelmingly want the head coach gone.
