Loan watch: Vieira nets for Porto in Europa League

Fabio Vieira scored his first goal since returning to FC Porto on loan in their 2-2 draw against Anderlecht in the Europa League.

Fabio’s fine long-range effort looked set to be a worthy match-winner in Brussels after putting the Portuguese side 2-1 up in the 83rd minute. But Francis Amuzu’s goal three minutes later meant Vieira and Porto had to settle for a point.

The result leaves Porto on five points from their first five Europa League league phase games, sitting in 23rd position going into the final three matches.

Nuno Tavares picked up a hamstring injury during his first call-up to the Portuguese national team and missed Lazio’s Europa League clash with Ludogorets and Serie A game against Parma.

In Serie A, Karl Hein’s Real Valladolid suffered a 5-0 home loss to Atletico Madrid. Karl played the full 90 minutes as goals from Clement Lenglet, Julian Alvarez, Rodrigo De Paul, Antoine Griezmann and Alexander Sorloth gave Diego Simeone’s side the victory.

In the Premier League, Reiss Nelson started his fourth Premier League game in a row for Fulham in their battling 1-1 draw against Tottenham Hotspur. Reiss was a constant thorn in the side of the Spurs defence, setting up Alex Iwobi whose effort smashed into the crossbar.

The winger ultimately made way for Harry Wilson after 62 minutes as the Cottagers battled back from a goal down to level through Tom Cairney. The result leaves Fulham in 10th position in the league table.
