The latest Liverpool injury updates and return dates following their 2-0 win over Manchester City.

Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester City was Arne Slot’s seventh consecutive win and has given his team a hugely impressive nine-point cushion in the title race, but it isn’t all good news – with a potentially tricky away game at Newcastle United and a Merseyside Derby coming up in the next few days, as many as six players may be absent through injury and the list of absentees is steadily growing.

Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley were among the players to miss out on Sunday’s win at Anfield, while forwards Diogo Jota and Federico Chiesa are among the players slowly working their way back from injury – and we’ve got the latest updates on all of their conditions and more below, along with the stricken players’ expected return dates when they’re available.

Ibrahima Konaté

One of Slot’s first-choice centre-backs will now be out for “a few weeks” thanks to a knee injury which he sustained in the closing stages of last week’s Champions League victory over Real Madrid.

Konaté is not expected back until the very end of December at the earliest, with a January return considered more likely as he begins the rehabilitation process.

Diogo Jota

The Portuguese forward, used by Slot as a centre-forward in the earlier stages of the season, is closing in on a return having missed around six weeks of football thanks to a chest injury which is presumed to have been fractured ribs.

Slot’s most recent comment on Jota’s availability, made ahead of the Manchester City game, was that he was “not there yet” but he is expected to be back in action this month, with some chance that he’s available to face Everton next weekend if all goes well.

Alisson

A hamstring injury that was not initially thought to be too serious has now sidelined the experienced goalkeeper for nearly two months, with Caoimhín Kelleher deputising since Alisson picked up the problem during the 1-0 win over Crystal Palace, which was later diagnosed as a tendon issue.

The 32-year-old is back in light training but had not rejoined full training prior to the Manchester City match – there is some chance that he is ready for the Everton game, but the midweek fixture at St. James’ Park will probably come too soon.

Conor Bradley

Another victim of the Real Madrid game, Bradley was outstanding against the Spanish champions but now faces up to six weeks out courtesy of a hamstring problem, although some reports suggest that the Northern Irishman has a chance of returning in around four weeks. Trent Alexander-Arnold, at least, came through the Manchester City match without incident after recovering from a knock of his own.

Federico Chiesa

The summer signing hasn’t been able to make much of a contribution to Liverpool’s title charge so far thanks to persistent injuries, and hasn’t featured since September. As of last week, Chiesa was stepping up his recovery and was back in team training but not working for the entirety of the sessions just yet. It is possible that he’s ready by the end of the week, but he is unlikely to be rushed back.

Kostas Tsimikas

The Greek full-back has now missed three league games thanks to an ankle injury, and that looks likely to extend to at least five, with Slot telling reporters that he did not think Tsimikas would be “with us in the upcoming week”. He was spotted on crutches and wearing a protective boot as he watched the match on Sunday from the sidelines. There is no formal return date, but he seems unlikely to be back in the line-up soon.
