Arne Slot has a warning for his Liverpool team after watching Chelsea play on Sunday.
While Liverpool were able to beat Manchester City 2-0 at Anfield, Chelsea were also able to win their game.
Enzo Maresca‘s men defeated Aston Villa 3-0 to stay within nine points of their rivals, who are currently at the top of the Premier League table.
Chelsea are not getting carried away, though. Cole Palmer played down title talk following his side’s win against Villa.

Arne Slot fearful of potential Chelsea winning streak
Liverpool and Slot have come in for a lot of praise for their run of form and rightly so.
In the Premier League, they have had to play the likes of City, Arsenal and Chelsea but have not tasted defeat. Their only loss this season came back in September when they were beaten 1-0 by Nottingham Forest.
Slot, though, is telling everyone not to get carried away and believes that Chelsea could go on a similar run.
MORE CHELSEA STORIES
Speaking in his post-match press conference, which was relayed by Liverpool’s official website, the Dutchman said: “I think if you want to win anything, and that’s what I just said, it’s not about what you are able to do, but it’s more about the consistency. Only a few teams maybe have won from City or from Real Madrid once in a while, but it’s not about winning once or twice against them. If you want to win anything, it’s all about consistency.
“These teams — like Madrid, like City, but I saw Arsenal yesterday and I saw Chelsea today — they are all capable of getting the same winning streak as we have, so let’s not get carried away by one or two wins. It’s all about consistency until the end of the season, keeping the players fit, keeping them playing with this much energy.
“And like you probably saw today, I only had five defenders available. So to win something in the end, there’s such a long way to go and so many challenges to take. But it’s good that we are capable of winning against these teams in our own style.”
Like Slot, Maresca is also doing a good job at his new club. Before Chelsea’s tie with Villa, Unai Emery raved about Maresca and the impact he has made in west London.
Chelsea’s upcoming fixtures
Chelsea’s next game in the Premier League is against Southampton, who are at the bottom of the table.
It is really a match that the Blues should be winning, especially if they do have title aspirations this season.
Tottenham Hotspur, Brentford, Everton, Fulham and Ipswich Town are then their remaining fixtures before the new year.
On paper, Spurs are the only team Chelsea should really be dropping points again if they want to challenge for the Premier League crown, though both Brentford and Everton have given them problems in the past.
Considering that, this run of fixtures will show where Chelsea really are under Maresca.
