Real Madrid midfielder’s January exit ‘impossible’ due to two key factors – report

Following their win over Getafe on Sunday, Real Madrid will be in action again on Wednesday when they take on Athletic Club away at San Mames.

Having closed the gap to league leaders Barcelona to just one point, Los Blancos will be eager to maintain the pressure on Hansi Flick & co. with another victory over Ernesto Valverde’s men later this week.

And, leading up to the game, the reigning Spanish champions have been greeted with some good news on the injury front.

Aurelien Tchouameni back in group training

Aurelien Tchouameni, who has been out of action due to an ankle injury, has resumed group training today and appears all set to be available against Athletic Club, reports MARCA.

Tchouameni, 24, suffered the sprain in his left ankle last month during the game against AC Milan, which Real Madrid ended up losing.

The Frenchman was expected to be out for close to a month and having now spent that amount of time on the sidelines, he is all set to return.

Having recovered the likes of Rodrygo and Lucas Vazquez from injury, Carlo Ancelotti now appears set to welcome Tchouameni back in the squad for Wednesday’s game, if everything goes according to plan.

Tchouameni’s return is a timely one for Real Madrid as they also lost his compatriot and fellow midfielder Eduardo Camavinga to an injury last week.

The former AS Monaco man has had an up-and-down season thus far and has come in for some criticism for his performances. Having resumed training, he will be eager to prove his detractors wrong and once again nail down his place in Ancelotti’s lineup.
