Simon Jordan fancies Aston Villa to put together successive Villa Park victories this coming week and in doing so arrest their slump which has gripped their season. Villa were well beaten 3-0 by Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Sunday and in doing so made it eight matches in all competitions without a win.

Villa have two inviting - on paper, at least - opportunities to end that unwanted run this week; as is the case in every Premier League campaign, there is a round of midweek fixtures in the first week of December, and they'll welcome Brentford on Wednesday. Villa then host bottom side Southampton on Saturday.

The Bees have been outstanding at home this term, taking 19 points from a possible 21, and that means they find themselves comfortably nestled in the top half of the table. They have, by comparison, collected just a single point on the road - and that came last time out at struggling Everton.

Southampton, meanwhile, also only have a point on the road - also this past game week, on Friday night at Brighton - and they're rock bottom with just five points this term, four adrift of safety already. Pundit Jordan sees no reason why Villa can't get back on the horse with six points this week and offered mitigation for their poor run.

"Brentford don't win away, do they? They get most of their points at home, about 90% of their points have come at home," Jordan told talkSPORT. "I expect Villa to bounce back. Southampton will give them a helping hand, as they do with every single team they play against. I expect Villa to win both of these games.

"You look at the depth of squad - you can't compare what Chelsea are competing in to what Aston Villa are. Chelsea are in the third tier of European football, against teams they can beat with their kids. They're able to utilise it in that fashion, whereas Villa are in the Champions League - they've just come off a game against Juventus."
