On the field, life is proving to be difficult for Aston Villa, but it’s worse off it.
Unai Emery’s side haven’t won in eight games in all competitions and the only light is in the Champions League, with games against RB Leipzig, Monaco and Celtic remaining ahead of a possible top-eight finish.
On Sunday afternoon, Villa were outclassed by Chelsea as they slipped further down the Premier League table and into the bottom half.
From a defensive aspect, the team is all over the shop and they have already conceded 22 goals from 13 league games this season.
The same can’t be said for Europe’s elite competition because, after Villa’s goalless draw against Juventus, they have now kept four clean sheets out of five in the Champions League.
That Juventus clash was the club’s penultimate home league game in the Champions League, with one more match remaining against the champions of Scotland, Celtic.
That game takes place on January 29, yet somehow, and this shouldn’t be a surprise, the powers that be at Aston Villa have managed to anger the supporters, again!

Aston Villa release ticket details for Champions League clash against Celtic
Villa returned to the Champions League for the first time in decades and it was supposed to be a moment of celebration for the club.

But instead, all season long, Villa fans have rightfully protested the cost of ticket prices and how supporters are being ripped off.
Those paying their tickets don’t have a problem with the co-owners Nassef Sawiris or Wes Edens – they remain very popular, but they don’t see eye-to-eye with the club’s president of business operations, Chris Heck.
Heck has made matters worse by deciding, weeks before Christmas, to release ticket details for the game and how season ticket holders have until December 6 to claim their tickets for a match that is still over a month away!
Season ticket holder or not, the fact that the club are asking their fans to pay for a game that will be played on January 29, when the festive period is here, is pretty disgraceful and shows how out of touch they are.
That’s not even taking into account that fans have to pay upwards of £97 for a ticket!

What has been said ahead of Aston Villa’s clash against Celtic
These two teams have previous European pedigree and are going to meet for the first time in their history next month.
It’s the final game of this newly revamped Champions League group stage and both teams should progress to the knockout stages – as of this moment, they both occupy a play-off spot.
There are a lot of connections in this game from past legendary players – Stiliyan Petrov – to past legendary managers – Martin O’Neill.
Petrov told BBC Sport back in August about his ‘two favourites’ Villa and Celtic when the draw was made.
“It’s two clubs with great history and I’m really looking forward to that one,” said Petrov.
“I think the draw overall was great. My two favourites will be Villa and Celtic, but my favourite (to win the competition) will be Real Madrid.”
