Dyche in spikey presser demand amid Patterson transfer claims and Rangers right-back crisis

Philippe Clement and Nils Koppen would have been hoping for no curve balls ahead of the January transfer window, since when have things ever been straight forward at Rangers though?

The manager confirmed that Neraysho Kasanwirjo has had surgery and is all but out for the season, with Dujon Sterling having an injury issue too, the squad could do with reinforcements at right back.

One name that is constantly mentioned as a possible target is Nathan Patterson, well versed in the ways of Rangers having grown up through the Auchenhowie ranks.

Sean Dyche not happy with Nathan Patterson transfer claims

The academy graduate has an uncertain future at Goodison Park but Sean Dyche has shot down claims of a January exit for the Scotland international.

When asked if reports of a possible loan move was on the cards for Patterson, Dyche fired back:

“Who’s reporting? Who? Tell me. Who? Name them. Oh online, okay, must be right then.”

He later said.

“Yeah, we will decide what happens with the players here.”

The future remains uncertain for Patterson at Everton

The relationship between Dyche and Patterson has always been a strained one.

Patterson has spoken before about his frustration over playing time and then there was the bizarre training camp incident that saw the Toffees’ manager slap his player on the head.

Patterson returned for Everton against Man Utd in the 4-0 defeat but it was too late for him to make any difference.

A permanent deal is out of the question, however, there is a need to provide experienced cover and a rotational option.

Given his positive impact against Man Utd, once he builds up his minutes, Dyche could do a lot worse than finally giving the £16m signing a chance.

If he doesn’t, Rangers could do a lot worse than picking up the phone to Everton and asking if they fancy sending a player to Ibrox who would be welcomed home with open arms.
