Chelsea boss feels they are far away from being title contenders

Chelsea FC have kept their fine form and defeated Aston Villa 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. They have kept their 3rd position in Premier League intact. This has resulted in them being looked upon as title challengers this season. But, Enzo Maresca feels that they are far awag from being the title contenders.

Maresca was being interviewed after the match. He was asked a lot of questions about performance, tactics and future. Maresca as always was not shy to speak his heart out and make some bold statements.

Firstly, the Italian coach said that it was a great performance from them, both on and off the pitch. He added that they have doing this from the start but sometimes they are good and sometimes they are not.

Later, Maresca was asked wheter this is a step forward to which he replied that he is not sure. He added that they want to win every match and when they get all 3 points, they are happy. Then, the boss was asked the question which Chelsea fans consider the most important one.

Enzo Maresca does not think Chelsea are title contenders

The Blues are doing really well at the moment. They are on third position in Premier League and have same points as Arsenal who are on the second place. This will make anyone feel that they are in title race. But, Maresca feels otherwise.

“I do not agree with that. We are not ready to compete with Liverpool, Arsenal and City for many reasons. Because we win today, I am not going to chance my idea. We are not ready for that” – Maresca about Chelsea’s title hopes this season.

Lastly, Maresca said that they are improving which he feels is the good thing. The Italian has high hopes that they will soon compete for title. This is a very good view from a manager who looks at the bigger picture.

Live Updates

Wesley Fofana has injured himself yesterday and Maresca feels like that it is a bad news. He added that they will lose him for 10 to 12 games. Fofana has been starting regularly alongside Colwill and hence his injury may hamper the winning rhythm of the club. Details available on Official Chelsea Website.
